Mobile self-check is a library technology that allows you to borrow books directly from the shelf. You may download a free app that essentially turns your smartphone into a self-check machine. This technology allows you to conveniently borrow items while allowing for social distancing.
What is MeeScan?
meeScan, created by Bintec Library Services, is a free mobile app for Android and Apple devices which allows you to connect to the library’s ILS and borrow an item using your own device. Simply go to the shelf and use your smartphone camera to scan item barcodes.

How does mobile checkout work?
Simply download the meeScan app from the App Store or Google Play. Then register your library card to the device, which is authenticated by PIN. The app uses your smartphone camera to scan item barcodes for checkout. There are check-points within the app to make sure checkouts are accurate.
I downloaded the MeeScan app and it asked me for an activation code. Can you provide an activation code?
You may be prompted for the activation code if you are setting up the app manually. For best results set up the app in the library. Of course, make sure Location Services on your device is turned on for the app.
Is meeScan secure?
Yes. All transactions are carried out securely by the meeScan cloud server that keeps the connection to your ILS open and ready at all times.
Is my data private?
Yes. Security and privacy is deeply embedded in meeScan architecture.
Can patrons receive a receipt?
Yes, meeScan will email you receipts automatically.
