Established in 1942, Friends of the Maplewood Library (a 501(c)(3) organization) is a group of your friends and neighbors who have joined together to support the activities and programs of the Maplewood Memorial Library.
Friends are committed to:
Raising funds to support library programs and enhance library services through membership dues, semi-annual book sales, tributes and special gifts.
Promoting and improving library services in both the Main and Hilton branches of our library.
Guaranteeing that the library has a strong base of community support.
Advocating in the community for the maintenance of high-quality library services.
Friends have supported the Library by:
Sponsoring the Children’s/Teens’ Summer Reading Program, which is instrumental in encouraging hundreds of children and teens to develop a lifelong love of the enjoyment of reading.
Funding major improvements. Looking forward to the 21st century library, the Friends plan to make a substantial gift to the capital campaign.
Sponsoring the museum pass program.
Contributing funds for the purchase of books, media, equipment, and new innovations.
Presenting special events and programs of interest to the community, including author talks, musical performances, children’s programs and the annual Ideas Festival.
Providing funds for the professional development of the library staff.
