Notary Public Service
Maplewood Memorial Library offers notary services for the benefit of the community. The service is based on the availability of the Library Notary. Appointments are required. Please call the library to schedule. Unforeseen circumstances may sometimes result in a pre-scheduled appointment with a Library Notary to be canceled.
Valid government issued photo identification is required of any customer seeking notary service. Electronic identification is not accepted.
The document(s) to be notarized must be signed in the presence of the notary. If more than one person is to sign, all persons signing must be present and provide valid government issued photo identification.
Notary service is limited to ten documents per person, per day.
The notaries at the Maplewood Memorial Library will not notarize:
Documents in any language other than that understood by the Notary.
Certain public documents cannot be copied and notarized. Examples of these are: birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, and passports.
Deeds, adoptions, I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, mortgages or other real estate closing documents.
Electronic notarization.
The Library Notary may, at their sole discretion, decline to provide Notary Service if the customer, documents, or circumstances of the request for Notary Service raise any issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt or uncertainty for the Library.
The Library will not provide witnesses, and witnesses may not be solicited from patrons using the Library. In order to serve as a witness, the witness must personally know the person whose document is being notarized, and must be in possession of valid government issued photo identification.
There is a charge of $2.50 per notarization.
