HILTON BRANCH (meeting room) - This New Jersey Makers Day, we are Building Community in Maplewood!
Share what you love about town by building your favorite local places using recyclable materials. The only limit is your imagination! Individual structures will be brought together to make a DIY community. The build process will be livestreamed and recorded so that progress can be tracked throughout the day.
WHO?: NJMD welcomes all ages to participate!
WHAT CAN YOU BUILD?: Build Maplewood! Some ideas for what you might build include your home, a business in town, your favorite park, plant, or tree, your school or classroom, or anything else that you think of when you think of Maplewood.
HOW CAN YOU BUILD?: Use your imagination! We will have kits with a few supplies and tutorials provided to get you started, available on a first come first serve basis at Hilton Branch starting March 3, but you don’t need a kit to build!
Some parameters to follow include:
Project should be 3-dimensional
Project should free-standing
Maximum Size : 8 in x 8 in x 8 in
Maximum Weight: 3lbs
Materials must be recyclable (preferably paper/cardboard; no plastic!)
No food or containers with food residue please.
WHEN & WHERE:
Saturday, March 26 @ 11am-4pm Hilton Branch meeting room (1688 Springfield Avenue)
Drop off your project at Hilton Branch.
Please enter through the exterior meeting room door. Follow the signs!
If you would like to pick up your finished project, then you must do so on Monday, March 28 by 7pm. After that, projects will be dismantled and recycled - NO projects will be held.
