The lives and works of artists, hosted by Gerard Amsellem and Mikel Frank, the Visual Passion Duo.
Although he was generally identified as an abstract expressionist, Mark Rothko was more a spiritual artist. He was considered a “color field” painter since he made use of large fields of flat, solid color spread across the canvas. He was a member of and was friends with the postwar New York School, among them de Kooning, Kline and Pollock. Mikel and Gerard will talk about Rothko’s intense passion about painting and his tragic end.
