This prize-winning play is set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression. Boy Willie Charles dreams of selling his family’s prized piano to buy the Mississippi land that his family had worked as slaves, while his sister Berniece clings to the piano as a reminder of the history that is their family legacy.
