Books Now and Then: Black History Month Discussion & Author Visit

  • Maplewood Hilton Branch Library 1688 Springfield Avenue Maplewood, NJ, 07040 United States (map)

This will be an in-person meeting.

Our Black History Month read is Coleman Hill, by local writer Kim Coleman Foote. The author will join us for the discussion!
Coleman Hill is the exhilarating story of two American families whose fates become intertwined in the wake of the Great Migration. Braiding fact and fiction, it is a remarkable, character-rich tour de force exploring the ties that bind three generations.
The book, inspired by her family’s journey from Alabama and Florida to Vauxhall, New Jersey, circa 1916–80s, examines the rarely told stories of black migrants in the Northern suburbs.
