Our May exhibit features wonderful hand-crafted items created by the Yarn and Fiber Arts Group. Live music will be provided by the Straus Brothers. Artists’ talk at 3:20.
The Yarn and Fiber Arts Group is an informal gathering of people interested in pursuing their craft in the company of other fiber enthusiasts. The group has been meeting at Maplewood Library monthly since 2016. Everyone brings their own supplies to the casual meetings where they knit, crochet, sew, weave, embroider, do needlepoint; any craft involving yarn or thread, needles or hooks.
There are people of all ages and skill levels in the group which includes working professionals, retired people, stay-at-home moms, teens, mother/daughter duos and occasionally a parent and tot from the Children's Room.
Some make things for themselves, friends or family; others make items for sale or for charity groups. Participants come and go anytime during the 2 hour window and as it is a drop in group, no registration or rsvp is involved.
While there are no lessons or instruction involved in the group, they do their best to help each other and offer advice. There is always someone on hand to help a novice get started on a new project. Please consider dropping in sometime if you would like to do your craft in a supportive and friendly environment.
